Our Instructors & Staff Members
Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Karate and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Sherman's Martial Arts - Arnold's instructors and other staff members, starting with James Sherman:
James Sherman (Founder/Owner)
Master Jim Sherman is the Founder of the martial art called Na Cha Shin Ui, and has been training in the martial arts for over 16 years. He has lived around the eastern shore town of Centreville his whole life. He is married to Patricia Sherman and has three daughters, Morgan, Jamie, and Chelsea. He currently owns and operates Sherman’s Martial Arts and held the position of Chief Instructor of Tom Fox’s Martial Arts America under Master Instructor Tom Fox for over 3 years. Jim Sherman is also a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Combat Hapkido, and is actively training with Grandmaster John Pellegrini in this unique style that combines total fitness, self-defense, and mental discipline while promoting increased self-confidence. He is a Certified Tactical Master Instructor in CDT, and a Certified Executive Protection Specialist under the ITC. He is a member of the Budo Hall of Fame. Master Sherman is currently training in Aikido and Judo under the direction of Sensei Max Sherman, Shodan, and Sensei Lou Perrillo, Shidoin.

James Elbourn (5th Dan/Chief instructor)
James has been training in Martial Arts for over 10 years. He has achieved the rank of Black belt in three styles; 5th Dan Na Cha Shin Ui, 2nd Dan Tae Kwon Do, and 1st Dan Combat Hapkido. James is Chief Instructor of Sherman's Martial Arts 3 studios and program coordinator at Sherman's Big Vanilla Arnold location. He still continues his traning in Xtreme Martial Arts, Philippine arnis, Combat Hapkido, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do.

Kayla Shallue (4th Dan/Head Instructor)
Kayla Shallue has been studying martial arts for 8 years. She lives on Kent Island and attends Chesapeake College as a full time student. Kayla has attained 4th Dan black belt in Na Cha Shin Ui and 1st Dan Black Belt in Combat Hapkido. She is also training in various weapons.
